Chicago, like Puerto Rico, is a city rich with musical styles and sounds. It was in Chicago that Sneak found inspiration in underground house music, Warehouse parties and "old school" mix tapes from the early pioneers - Farley Jackmaster Funk, Ralphi Rosario, Steve Hurley and local radio station shows played on WBMX.
As well as playing at shows across the globe, producing music and releasing merchandise for his label I'm A House Gangster, DJ Sneak also dedicates time to giving back to his loyal fans by releasing a free downloadable live mix once a week. These weekly mixes are spread across three different podcast shows (Gangstercast, Vinylcast & Budcast), which are also featured on a number of online radio stations across the globe. What is I'm a House Gangster? Well as Phil Weeks put it...
"Some people get confused; this is nothing about violence or gangster bad boys. Just fighting for the sound of music we love" – Phil Weeks
The goal was for Amplify to manage the entire podcast process, everything from audio and video preparation, radio station distribution and also the promotion across all online platforms. The weekly shows are released on multiple platforms including SoundCloud, Mixcloud, iTunes and YouTube. The podcast shows are to be promoted via all online channels available.
Since taking over the podcast distribution we have freed up a significant amount of time for DJ Sneak and his team, so they can focus their attention on their other music label tasks. As well as this, since taking over we have also noticed an increase in plays, the size of the radio station syndicate list has gone up and the general over all process has been more consistent and looks a lot cleaner.
